House Bill 381. Normally, I know we and trial lawyers don't see eye to eye. But in this case, in which this bill would make it impossible to sue a utitlity monopoly for anti-trust operations (like overcharging...gee I wonder who wast the ghost writer on this one), I really believe republican groups like this one should get moving on trying to kill this thing in the Senate, since it's already passed the house. I'm all for tort reform, but taking away a consumers rights is not tort reform. As conservatives, we should stand up for our rights as citizens when they are attacked by our government. Our right to get our freaking money back from Entergy through a court of law is an important one - they're a monopoly. If we as consumers aren't allowed to check their power, we are left with only the government to do it for us. I don't like the sound of that - particularly since Entergy's PAC basically owns the PSC and most of the legislature. But more than that, i don't like when the government starts peeling away our rights as citizens. It makes me nervous.
